On July 15, the third Cross-strait Dayu Cultural Exchange Activity,sponsored by the People's Government of Sichuan Province and Taiwan affairs Office and Mianyang Municipal Government and undertaken by the People's Government of Mianyang City and Taiwan affairs Office, Bureau of Mianyang Culture Broadcasting and Television and Tourism as well as People's Governmentof Beichuan Qiang Autonomous County,was held at the YuSquare, Yongchang Town in Beichuan Qiang Autonomous County. About 500 guests, experts and scholars from across the Taiwan Straits, Hong Kong, Macao and overseas attended the event.

This event lasts two days. Compared with the previous two events, in addition to the opening ceremony, the sacrifice ceremony of Dayu's birthday, the investment promotion meeting and the online sacrifice,new activities such as the cross-straits Yu Qiang cultural tourismand cultural creative industry development exchange meeting, cross-straits ethnic cultural exchange and exhibition, cross-straits Yu descendants’journey, the overseas Chinese class of Yu culture, and cross-straits feature products exhibition and sales activities have been addedin this year. Besides, an online offering platform was set up to facilitate the worship of Dayu by netizens at home and abroad.

Beichuan is the only Qiang autonomous county in China. It is the birthplace of Yu, the Great, the founder of the Chinese nation, also the hero of water control in ancient times and the founder of people-oriented thought. On the sixth day of June of lunar year, the sacrifice to Yu has a long history. According to theBamboo Annalsand a large number of historical records, more than 4,000 years ago, Dayu was born in Beichuan and the county has been well preserved the inscribed words about Yu, the Great of Yangxiong, Li Bai, Yan Zhenqing and other historical celebrities. Yu Wang temples forworship have spread through out the county. The custom of Yu Worship in Beichuan can be traced back to the Xia Dynasty and reached its peak during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. For thousands of years, the custom of offering sacrifices to Yu, the Greathas never stopped in Beichuan.

After the establishment of cross-strait exchange base, Beichuan held the first cross-strait Dayu cultural exchange activities and the sacrifice ceremony of Dayu's birthday in 2019, which opened the cross-strait joint worship of Da Yu's birthday. At present, Beichuan has successfully held three successive cross-strait Dayu cultural exchange activities and Yu's birthday sacrifice, and the place where Da Yu was born has also become a place for Chinese descendants at home and abroad to search for their roots and ancestors.

In recent years, Beichuan county,when firmly directed by Xi Jinping’s socialism with Chinese characteristics thoughts as the instruction in the new eraand vigorously carrying forward the spirit of Yu, Dayu and Qiang ethnic cultural inheritance, has been named as the First National the hometown of Dayu culture in China by China Folk ArtistsAssociation and the Place of Worship of Yu, the Great by History of Water Conservancy Instituteof Chinese Water Conservancy Society.
