Sichuan Athlete Won Gold Medal in Tokyo Paralympics

On Aug. 30, Dong Chao from Sichuan won the gold medal in men's 10m air rifle standing R1-SH1 at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.

Dong Chao is a veteran of the Paralympic Games.The Tokyo Paralympics isDong's fourth Paralympic Games after Beijing, London and Rio.So far, he has won three gold and two bronze Medalsin the Paralympic Games.At the Tokyo Paralympics, Dong will compete in four events, including mixed 10m air rifle prone, 50m men's rifle 3 positions and 50m mixed 50m prone 60 shots.

Dong Chao was born in Yongan Town, Yantan District, Zigong City in 1985.When he was 3, a car accident resulted in the amputation of his upper left thigh.Naturally lively and active, Dong Chao tried to play table tennis with one foot, and from then on, he showed his talent for sports.Dong started his shooting career in 2004 when he was recommended to take part in shooting training at Sichuan Land Sports School.In 2005, he was selected to the Sichuan provincial disabled shooting team. Under the careful guidance of coach Wang Ping, his shooting level improved rapidly.In 2006, he was selected to China's disabled shooting team.

In the 2012 London Paralympics, Dong Chao won the first gold medal in the history of the Sichuanathletes’Paralympic Games.In 2019, Dong Chao won the gold medal in men's R1 10m air Rifle SH1 at the Paralympic Shooting World Championships held in Sydney, Australia.So far, Dong Chao has won the Paralympic Games, the World Championships, the World Cup and the Asian Paralympic Games.
